Standardisation of meeting room technologies for over 70 rooms for the new HS2 joint venture compound and 13 satellite sites.
Align is a joint venture of three international and privately-owned infrastructure companies; Bouygues Travaux Publics, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine, and VolkerFitzpatrick, a subsidiary of VolkerWessels. The combined experience, both in the UK and worldwide, in delivering high-profile infrastructure projects safely, on time and on budget, has long established our reputation.
The Brief
To provide a consistent user experience across all meeting rooms across the estate. In July 2017 the Align joint venture was awarded the C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). C1 consists of 21.6km of high-speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 16.04km twin-bored tunnel and five vent shafts handling both intervention and tunnel ventilation facilities.

Why Carillion?
Bouygues Construction engaged with Carillion 3 years prior to the HS2 joint Venture project going live to develop and design cohesive brief for standardising meeting rooms. Once a detailed specification had been built a tender package was released prior to the compounds going live where Carillion successfully secured the project. The project commenced March 2020 just as national lockdowns were bought into place. Carillion successfully deployed the large-scale rollout over the 18-month schedule within the scheduled timelines and working to government COVID guidelines and protocols.
The Outcome
A consistent user experience across the estate that allows staff, contactors and trades constructing the HS2 rail tunnel to easily communicate over video from the multiple locations.
