Adapting to appeal to the next generation of AV professionals

We are always on the lookout for talented people to develop their careers in Audio Visual with Carillion Communications. At the ISE exhibition in Barcelona, we were delighted to get involved with the AVIXA (Audio Visual and Integrated Experience Association) Xchange Live event. This innovative ‘matchmaking’ initiative paired young talent with AV companies from across Europe.

In today’s fast-paced, hybrid working world, driven by the breakneck progress of technology, exciting possibilities for young people looking to take their first steps on the career path are plentiful and no longer blocked by the barrier of location. While talent acquisition and retention have been a challenge faced by the AV industry for many years, adapting to appeal to the needs and wants of the next generation of AV professionals is now imperative. Events, such as Xchange Live, are therefore essential in enabling employers to explain the huge array of career choices available within the industry. From Technical Design to Project Management, from software technicians to hardware engineers, the AV industry offers a wide range of complimentary roles that suit a broad range of skills, strengths, and interests.

During dozens of ‘speed meets’ at the event on the AVIXA stand, the Carillion team were greatly impressed by the interest, knowledge and enthusiasm shown by the young people with whom we chatted. Indeed, we were so impressed by three people in particular, we offered them roles on the day, and we hope they will join our team shortly. Two are engineers, and one is sales focused, we have no doubt they will bring zeal and passion to their respective roles. 

Post ISE 2023, the AVIXA Job Site will continue to bring young talent together with AV professionals and we look forward to using the site regularly as we continue to grow Team Carillion.
